What a technician actually needs
A driver does not need your invoice settings on a four-inch screen. They need today’s list, the address, the last notes on the property, a way to start the job, and a way to finish it with photos and a signature. If that takes six menus, they will keep using a paper pad.
Spestly’s van view is that list. Open a job, start it, add photos and materials, capture a signature, complete it. The office sees the record. Recurring plans can book the next visit from that completion.
Phone-first, not an app-store project
There is nothing to publish in the App Store or Play Store. The technician opens a link, signs in, and can add the page to their home screen. iPhone and Android both work. New hire: create a login, they are on today’s run.
Signal drops between houses. The van keeps a local queue and syncs when the phone is back. A banner says if something has not gone up yet. That is not a promise of full offline accounting — it is enough to finish the job at the door.
Plans and limits
The driver app is on Route ($99/mo) and Fleet ($179/mo). Desk is office-only. If you have vans, do not start a trial on Desk and wonder where Today went.
Routes will order stops and open Maps. It will not reroute around a wreck on the interstate. Owners can also open the van when they are covering a route themselves.
